South Korean automaker Hyundai Motor's labor union has voted to authorize a strike for the first time in five years, after wage negotiations stalled. Unionized workers at Hyundai's domestic plants voted overwhelmingly in favor of strike action, demanding higher wages and an extension of the retirement age. The union is seeking a monthly base pay increase of 184,900 won ($139), a 30% share of the company's net profit from last year, and an extension of the retirement age from 60 to 64.
