This bespoke kitchen in a converted roundhouse is a prime example of how a hidden kitchen can bring together elegant design and seamless functionality. Designed by Roundhouse, the kitchen serves as a hub for entertaining and everyday cooking, while also offering the flexibility to be tucked away when guests arrive.
The kitchen space is designed in two distinct zones. The main kitchen features a long island unit that doubles as a breakfast bar and food preparation space. The island is crafted from solid European oak with a characterful grain and warm tones. Ample storage is provided through drawers and cabinets along both sides of the island.
The main backdrop of the kitchen is a full-height unit with handleless doors, continuing the sleek lines of the design. It conceals appliances including a refrigerator, oven, and steam oven, maintaining an uninterrupted look. The cabinets and drawers are made from Smoked Oak veneer with a horizontal grain, subtly contrasting with the island's vertical grain.
A secondary kitchen, dubbed the 'back kitchen', is located just behind the main space. It provides additional workspace and houses appliances like an extra sink, dishwasher, and hob. This separate area allows for the more chaotic aspects of cooking to be contained, leaving the main kitchen pristine for entertaining. Bi-fold pocket doors can conceal the back kitchen completely, creating a streamlined and open feel.
The dark, muted color scheme of the kitchen adds to its sophistication and complements the overall aesthetic of the roundhouse conversion. The clients desired a minimalist, handleless design, and Roundhouse delivered with a focus on clean lines and high-quality materials.
The result is a highly functional and visually striking kitchen that seamlessly integrates into the unique architecture of the roundhouse. The hidden back kitchen allows for effortless transitions between everyday living and entertaining, providing the ultimate in kitchen luxury.
