Azerbaijan, Türkiye discuss energy cooperation
Azerbaijan and Türkiye discussed prospects for cooperation in the field of energy.
The discussion took place during a meeting between Azerbaijani Energy Minister Parviz Shahbazov and Turkish Ambassador to Azerbaijan Cahit Bagci.
The sides exchanged views on the current state and prospects of cooperation between the two countries in the field of energy, including the Southern Gas Corridor and other projects.
The Southern Gas Corridor is a project to transport natural gas from the Caspian Sea to Europe. The project includes the Shah Deniz 2 gas field development, the expansion of the South Caucasus Pipeline, the construction of the Trans-Anatolian Natural Gas Pipeline (TANAP), and the construction of the Trans-Adriatic Pipeline (TAP).
Shahbazov and Bagci also stressed the importance of the memorandum of understanding on strategic cooperation in the field of energy, signed between the two countries, for the development of cooperation.
The two also discussed the significance of meetings within the framework of the Organization of Turkic States to expand energy cooperation, according to the Azerbaijani Energy Ministry.
