Chandigarh Designer Debuts at SaloneSatellite

Rohil Gupta, a Chandigarh-based furniture designer, recently made his debut at SaloneSatellite, a prestigious platform for emerging designers under 35. Gupta presented his collection titled "A New Perspective," which featured a compelling lineup of chairs crafted from unconventional materials. Among his showcased pieces were the "Evolve Chair," made from mild steel and cane, and the "Aurum Chair," constructed from teak wood and brass. Each chair reflects Gupta's meticulous craftsmanship and his passion for pushing the boundaries of conventional design.

The "Evolve Chair" stands out with its biomorphic form achieved through steam bending and metal bending, showcasing Gupta's innovative use of traditional techniques. The design cleverly incorporates negative spaces within the seat and back, adding an element of visual lightness to the robust frame. The choice of cane weaving further enhances the chair's organic aesthetic and provides comfortable seating.

The "Aurum Chair" embodies Gupta's dedication to exploring new materials and their potential in furniture design.
