Dated Kitchen Flooring Trends to Avoid

Certain kitchen flooring trends are showing their age. Travertine tiles, while once popular for their natural beauty, are now considered high-maintenance due to their porous nature and susceptibility to staining. Similarly, dark hardwood floors, though elegant, can make a kitchen feel smaller and show dust and scratches more readily. High-gloss finishes on any material are also falling out of favor, being replaced by more forgiving matte and satin sheens. Even ceramic tile is being used less, often replaced with more durable and stylish alternatives like porcelain or luxury vinyl. Finally, busy, patterned linoleum, though practical and affordable, is being passed over for simpler, cleaner looks.
