Taiwan Semiconductor Manufacturing Co. (TSMC) has initiated production of its advanced 3-nanometer chips, marking a significant leap in semiconductor technology. The new chips are touted to deliver up to 70% logic density gain, a 15% speed improvement at the same power, and a 30% power reduction at the same speed compared to the previous 5-nanometer process. The increased efficiency and performance are expected to benefit a range of applications, from smartphones and high-performance computing to artificial intelligence. TSMC anticipates strong demand for the 3nm process and plans to increase production capacity to meet market needs.
