Türkiye, flood-hit areas to get TL 10 bln in aid
Türkiye will allocate TL 10 billion ($361.1 million) in aid for the reconstruction of flood-hit areas in the southern part of the country, President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan announced Thursday.
“We are allocating an additional TL 10 billion for flood damage to our budget,” Erdoğan said at a press briefing in Ankara following a Cabinet meeting.
Heavy downpours across southern Türkiye caused significant flooding earlier this month, leading to widespread destruction.
Flash floods inundated streets, swept away cars, and damaged homes in several cities including Şanlıurfa, Adıyaman, and Kilis.
Several people have also lost their lives in incidents relating to floods or in flood-hit areas.
The aid package will be used to rebuild homes, infrastructure, and businesses damaged by the floods, Erdoğan noted.
He also stated that the government will provide financial assistance to those affected by the disaster.
The president emphasized the importance of solidarity and swift action in responding to the disaster and reiterated the government's commitment to support the affected areas until full recovery.
