Japanese Palette Table Wins International Design Award

Koizumi’s Palette occasional table, designed by Tsukasa Goto Design, has been named a winner in the A’ Design Award & Competition.

The table was designed for placement next to a sofa or chair for drinks or magazines and features two tiered table tops with different heights and diameters.

Its design was inspired by Japanese “palette” gardens or trays. The company says the tiered surfaces, reminiscent of stacked palettes, offer a place for personal items. The bottom tier is intended to provide ample space for magazines or books while the smaller upper tier accommodates beverages. The company recommends placing a small plant or other accessories on the upper tier to further enhance the table’s appearance and create a relaxing atmosphere.

The table won in the Furniture, Decorative Items and Homeware Design Category. The A’ Design Award and Competition is an international design competition that highlights the best designs, design concepts and products & services. The lower tabletop is 17.7 inches in diameter, while the upper tabletop spans 11 inches. The overall height of the table is 17.7 inches.

The frame is made with solid ash and the table tops are ash veneer with a PU finish.
